With less than a week to go until Defi Gladiators much-anticipated mint date on the 13th of January, we caught up with the project lead Keyser for an exclusive AMA. Defi Gladiators are creating the first education-driven NFT project on the Avalanche Blockchain and we are looking forward to being part of their community.

How did your team first get into NFT’s?

Towards the end of 2020, our team started to hear and learn more and more about NFTs. Provable ownership on digital collectibles, with the ability to trade and automatically be credited with royalties payments, is so exciting and we thought NFTs are a genius idea with dozens of use cases.

From the initial concept to the final stages of launching the project, how long did the process take, and have you encountered any roadblocks?

We took our time researching and exploring the available possibilities and methods of NFTs. I would say that it has taken around two months of development to reach the point we are at now, which at the time of writing is 9 days until we launch our project. One of the most crucial decisions we made was to launch on Avalanche, which we are so happy about it. We researched and examined the “how-what-where-when,” to avoid as much roadblocks as possible, but all projects, whether they are a startup, movie production or a 30,000 people music festival, will encounter roadblocks. Any entrepreneur will tell you that roadblocks are just part of the road and the journey. 

What was your inspiration for the Defi Gladiators project?

To me, inspiration is dynamic and multifaceted. First, it comes from my love to Crypto. Secondly, Defi has become a significant part of my life for the past year.  We wanted to create PFP artwork with crypto culture references and the art is our way of showing appreciation and respect to the great creators,  innovators and founders of blockchain and crypto communities.

It all comes altogether under the feeling of constantly fighting under the burden of regulatory laws, banking laws, and society who still thinks digital coinz are a scam. From a business point of view, the chance to build a timeless artwork that will grow with the Avalanche ecosystem exponentially is really priceless. Avalanche NFTs is so early so we can imagine how things will look like 5 years from now, but we’re taking actions today to be there when it’s happening.

We know that you have assembled an experienced team for this project. What skills do they each bring?

We believe that our team is unique because all of us come from different backgrounds and have our own unique set of skills that we bring to the table.

Maximus, our co-founder, has been running different businesses and founding startups for the last 15 years. He was also an early BTC & ETH adopter. He is super creative in his business ideas, and when it comes to NFTs, he believes we should always be looking for and creating IRL use cases.

Yamajiii is a profound artist and an experienced character design expert. He has worked with some of the biggest blue-chip brands and specialises in creating mascots.

HammerHead is our leading backend developer. An experienced & professional smart-contract developer specializing in token issuance and innovative smart contract configurations.

Meliodas is our business development guy. He helps us talk to media outlets, initiate collaborations, and bring new ideas to the table. He’s also a full-stack developer with a passion for day trading and investing.

Outside of our core team, Defi Gladiators has used the help of numerous other individuals including lawyers, designers, full-stack devs, moderators, and more and more.

What made your team decide to build on the Avalanche Blockchain?

Great question. We’re about to release an article precisely about this question on our Medium page, but, in general, we feel Avalanche is our best bet for the next 5 years in Crypto.

The rising stats for developers who adopt the Avalanche network are promising. Not only because it is super cheap and super fast, but it is scalable and actively invites thousands of Dapps, AVAX NFT projects, and more to deploy on the network. From personal experiments, the ease of use has sealed the decision.

Avalanche is definitely the best place to kick start Dapps and other crypto industries in the future of a multi-chain world.

And most important, Avalanche NFTs, or AVAX NFTs are just starting out. And we think it’s going to explode.

What do you think differentiates you from the other Avalanche projects, and how will you stand out in this rapidly expanding space?

First, I’d say that there are so many genuinely unique Avalanche NFTs projects out there. All of the current projects are trying to bring value and develop great ideas within the space. We believe that the intrinsic value of the Defi Gladiators will come from the hand-drawn art and character design, they will then have multiple future use-cases in the evolving metaverse. 

Then, we ought to create real value and use cases for our community by developing products they will actually use. Integrate it all with IRL club benefits, like getting access to exclusive paid trading materials or a hosted webinar to create an edge for the Defi Gladiators.

Defi Gladiators’ main goal is to create an open and positive environment, focusing on sharing knowledge and creating opportunities for people to excel. How do you plan to achieve this?

Our first task is to create an educational platform where all people can learn about crypto, defi, different blockchains, bridging, and more. We’re basically trying to become the first crypto online university through an interactive UI and an RPG, that can be easily integrated in the metaverse. We are currently forming a pilot syllabus before launch which will be tested on our platform with a Beta launch in March-April 2022.

In the future, we want to create a platform where everyone can learn about traditional finance and how to become free financially, or at least take some active actions towards that. We’re still looking for more contributors and supporters, as well as funds from the Defi Gladiators mint fees. In addition, we find that translating our resources to as many languages as possible is crucial to reaching our goals of Crypto and finance education.

What are your future plans to expand your community?

Crypto communities should constantly change, adapt and evolve into whatever the crypto space throws at us. We are fighters. Gladiators. We’ve been around for quite some time now, and we know how hard it can be for crypto projects to stay relevant.  Defi Gladiators is a dynamic organization that will become a DAO soon and the entire decision-making process will be voted on by holders. Our applications and collaborations with other crypto projects and IRL entities will significantly expose our products and the Defi Gladiators community to the broader public. Ultimately, these actions can increase the floor price of our collectibles and create more room for more project growth.

How do you plan to maintain and grow your community past the mint to ensure longevity and growing value?

Besides our weekly rewards and lifetime access to claim royalties, we will create and host activities, competitions, webinars, AMAs, giveaways and much more. We want to create a fun, safe environment for people to learn about the crypto space, help them to take action, and make frens along the way. Social media channels like Discord are crucial for our growth and constant contact with our community 24/7. As well as great interviews like this one.

How long will it take to create the educational content that will be available to the community?

We estimate that the Beta version of our Educational RPG will be completed around March 2022. Besides that, we plan to release more products such as a crypto options trading calculator, Wonderland metrics tool and more in the coming weeks, before March 2022.

What are your plans for the future utility of your NFT’s?

Besides lifetime access to paid educational content and tools, holders of Defi Gladiators NFTs will also have access to mint and possibly breed other NFTs and tokens very soon. We plan to create an edge for the Defi Gladiators in Defi through our applications and community management. And we are really excited to see what the future crypto and blockchain technology will allow us to do with our NFTs as time goes on. 

You will be offering discounted minting fees for early adopters during the mint. Can you explain this further?

Yes. First, our whitelist is still open and has a total of 50 spots. Whitelist mint for free. Besides that, we have created a fighters formula to reward early adopters with a discounted mint fee. The first batch of 2000 NFTs will have a 15% discount which means they will cost 1.275 AVAX to mint each NFT (+gas fees). The second batch of 1000 NFTs will get a 10% discount which means they will cost 1.35 per NFT (+gas). The final batch of 2555 NFTs will pay a flat 1.5 AVAX fee to mint (+gas).

The weekly rewards that you will be giving back to holders are very interesting. Can you explain how you decided on this reward method?

We wanted to create an exciting way to keep the Defi Gladiators community interested and hyped during the project’s first year. So, we have allocated $50,000 from our budget to be distributed in weekly AVAX rewards for an entire year. Every week, a different number of holders will get a share of the weekly reward. Using a 3rd party software that the community will choose for fairness, we will conduct a raffle to select random numbers from the collection.  Besides adding a fun way to earn money unexpectedly just by being a community member, we will incentivize holders not to sell, which we think will result in a higher floor price for the Defi Gladiators NFT.

An IRL reward has been teased. We believe it is tickets to the World Cup this year, can you confirm?

We would love to know if there is any particular NFT that you are particularly proud of creating?

Well, as much as I love them all, like my unborn kids, there is one super special and unique 1:1 Defi Gladiator that will be available to mint. It’s a…surrealistic Defi Gladiator. We haven’t revealed it yet….but it’s EPIC.

Do you have any plans for other NFT collections or are you focused solely on developing this project?

I’m a Defi Gladiator, baby. We are just starting our journey, and there are so many things to accomplish and develop as one of the prominent and unique Avalanche NFT projects. WAGMI!

We have our own list of projects that we are interested in both currently and in the near future, could you share some that you personally like or are getting excited about?

Honestly, we love the Avalanche Party Animals collection. They have a unique style and approach, and I’ve been following them on their socials since before launch. They are inspiring and are really doing a great job growing and maintaining their community. Great job for the AVAX community.

We have seen some interesting crossovers in the NFT space lately, are you open to collaborating with other projects or will COA be a closed project?

Absolutely. Collaborations are a fantastic way to expand communities and combine forces with people who share the same goals and interests. We’re always happy to hear ideas and proposals about making the world a better place with other Avalanche NFT projects, Avalanche Defi projects, and more.
