Avalanche recently pitched the idea of Otherside running on a subnet to the ApeCoin DAO forum and it certainly stirred up an intense debate amongst members.
Many great points were made by Avalanche and ApeCoin DAO members on the forum during this discussion, although it is important to note that this proposal has only been submitted for early discussion and not as a formal governance vote at this stage. It’s also unclear whether the ApeCoin DAO and its members actually have any say in the matter, as the decision may ultimately lie with Yuga Labs.
Yuga Labs have previously acknowledged that high transaction fees act as the main barrier to hosting renowned projects like Otherside on Ethereum, publicly complaining about Ethereum’s network congestion and rocketing gas fees during the mint sale of its Otherside metaverse land NFTs. Indeed, the highly-anticipated Otherside drop congested the network, making users pay more than $175 million in ETH for the gas fees on the first day of its launch.
We wanted to say a few words about the mint tonight. 🧵

An Avalanche subnet would certainly be an excellent option to fix the problems that Yuga Labs are currently facing with the Ethereum network. Avalanche outperforms Ethereum in almost all aspects and addresses many of its most criticized issues with ease.
Punk2513 from the ApeCoin DAO forum also posted a deep dive thread on the risks of L2s as well as public support for Avalanche’s proposal, we believe that if Otherside does ever build on an Avalanche subnet, it will be the biggest moment in Avax NFT history.
Dear $APE community, I’m sure some of you have taken a look at this proposal:https://t.co/CLTp6c1zoC
If you’ve voted in favor or haven’t voted yet, I encourage you to read this thread as I will (as objectively as I can) present to you the risks of building on an ETH L2:

To date, Yuga Labs have not publicly commented upon Avalanche’s offer, however, with access to the $290 million incentive program to support users and development costs as well as direct support from the greatest minds at Ava Labs, Yuga Labs are sure to be considering an Otherside subnet.
